Amazing hairstyles to rock this New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is by far our favourite party night of the year. We love getting dressed up in a sparkly outfit, drinking some fizz and having a boogie with the girls. And we always have great fun trying out new hairdos in the lead-up so that we choose the perfect style for the big night. This New Year’s Eve is going to be all about braids, updos and glitzy accessories (yay!), so we’ve put together a few amazing hairstyles that will make sure you look the part.

New Year's Eve hair styles: Your guide to amazing looks this party season

Textured ponytails

With just the right mix of effortlessness and glamour, the textured ponytail is the perfect option for long-haired partygoers who want to look amazing but also keep their hair out of their face. You can wear it high, with loose curls dropping around your shoulders, or low, with textured waves cascading dramatically down your back. You can smooth back the hair at the scalp for a more cheeky and youthful style, or sculpt the front for full sophistication. For extra texture, you could even add a braid or pretty accessory at the base of the ponytail.

Off-centre messy buns

We love the fact that people are starting to get creative with their everyday hairstyles – from cute double buns and hairdos with ribbons to parting plaits and elaborate ponytails. One of the coolest dos we’ve seen recently, and that we think would be perfect for any New Year’s Eve party, is the off-centre messy bun. Tousled hair is loosely braided before being twirled into a high, off-centre bun. By gently loosening bits of hair from the bun and the rest of the head, the style looks gorgeously effortless and yet beautifully dramatic. If you want extra wow, you could even finish the style with a glitzy accessory at the crown of your head.

Teased updos

If your hair lacks a little volume, teasing is the perfect technique for helping you achieve that showstopper hairstyle for New Year’s Eve. This involves gently backcombing at the roots and adding a spritz of hairspray. You can then curl the lengths of your hair and twist them into a textured updo, securing with hairspray and pins, and finishing the look with a delicate hair accessory. The teased hair provides a strong, voluminous base for the light curls to sit on.
