We love everything about the Oscars: the red carpet bursting with glamourous A-listers in designer gowns; the gorgeous hair and makeup; and the drama of the awards ceremony (this year’s mix-up between La La Land and Moonlight for ‘Best Picture’ surely tops the charts in this department!). Each year, the stunning stars of the year’s most successful films grace the red carpet with exciting hairstyles that quickly set the fashion world on fire. So, here are a few of our favourites. You never know, they might inspire you to make a change!

Hair styles from the Oscars

Emma Stone’s waterfall waves

As the leading lady in 2017’s colourful musical blockbuster La La Land, it’s no surprise that Emma Stone wowed viewers with her confidence, elegance and poise on the red carpet. She wore her fiery red locks in side-swept waterfall waves to complement her shimmering golden gown – a classic look that is perfect for a Hollywood star!

Half up, half down

The pretty, feminine ‘half up, half down’ style has always been a go-to option for awards ceremonies, but, this year, Dakota Johnson and Felicity Jones made it look particularly stunning. While Dakota Johnson went for slicked-back, straight locks to complement her statement gold gown, Felicity Jones opted for a more natural version, with loose curls and a side-swept fringe that matched her pretty, pale pink, ballerina-style dress.

Platinum tones

We’re used to seeing Michelle Williams with a pixie cut, but she turned it up a notch for this year’s Oscars by transforming it into a sharp, platinum blonde crop, which looked stunning with her flawless, glowing skin and bold black plunge dress. And she wasn’t the only one rocking white-blonde tones on the red carpet – Nicole Kidman also showed off her glamourous side with her blonde locks twirled into a twisted updo, complemented by an embroidered gold gown and a slick of bright red lipstick.

Short crops

Michelle Williams was not alone in giving her hair a good chop for the 2017 Oscars – stars including Janelle Monaé and Scarlett Johansson also brought an edge to the red carpet with short, boyish crops. While Janelle Monaé accessorised her tousled locks with an elaborate jewelled headband (to set off the statement jewels on her dress and necklace), Scarlett Johansson opted for an undercut and ‘faux hawk’ style with bleached ends.
